The god-awful drive that changed NFL history | Dorktown

In 2011, the Jets and Chiefs helped each other put together one of the worst five-minute stretches of football the NFL has ever seen. It shouldn’t have mattered. And yet, it changed both teams forever.

    Steph BensonSteph Benson16 ngày trước
    • It’s true, O’Brien was 0-4 and Quinn was 0-5. But both should have been fired much earlier, O’Brien especially... he traded Hopkins and their first two picks this year, pissed off Watt and Watson, and above all doomed the Texans franchise. And for what?

    John MorrisJohn Morris21 ngày trước
  • The word dynasty is way overused. A dynasty is where you completely dominate, and keep winning consecutive championships; the early 20th century NY Yankees, and Boston Celtics. Winning a championship every few years, IS NOT a dynasty. It may be the mark of consistent good play, but it is no dynasty. I think this has been a case of sportscasters and fans, simply wanting to make things seem much better than they actually were, the same way that people go crazy for a single touchdown, or one good play on the court. We see the same in tennis, where today, a SINGLE win in a major tournament is referred to as winning a grand slam, that term shortened from 'winning A SINGLE grand slam major tournament'. The shorten it to make it seem like a greater achievement than it really is. Every year, the winning super bowl team is referred to by their fans as having a 'dynasty'. Nope. They won ONE championship, no dynasty.

  • Regarding the Todd Haley firing, I've always attributed it to how the team was. Yeah, we may have been winning games, but it was obvious the players hated it there. Every game they had the same defeated look on their faces. Compared to before and after Todd Haley where they were enjoying themselves. This game was just the excuse needed to fire him.

    PyropheusPyropheus21 ngày trước
  • Yeah, the Chiefs would've lost this game even without the penalty-laden drive. They lost big. So, Haley would've lost his job anyways. Nice try though

  • when i watched that incredibly cursed Wednesday game this past NFL season between the Steelers and the Ravens where the Ravens had to play with third stringers due to COVID and it had been rescheduled like 3 times and there were tons of turnovers and there was barely any offense to speak of (the most memorable of which was a random Trace McSorely pass that put the Ravens close to winning the game), i got a similar feeling that i had witnessed something so incredibly cursed that something had to give. and then immediately after the Steelers dropped 4 out of 5 of their last games and got clobbered in the first round of the playoffs by the Browns. whereas the Ravens won the rest of their regular season games and got their first playoff win. i can only conclude that the Steelers were cursed by winning that incredibly stupid game. i certainly felt cursed watching it.
